Tumby Bay proved far too strong for Eyre United to record back to back wins against the Saints at Ungarra running out big winners by 104 points. The game was keenly contested early and Eyre United looked sharp but squandered several opportunities in front of goal before Ackland opened proceedings to kick Tumby’s first. The Blues slowly got on top through the tough work from Mitch Lawrie and Kelly and Miller were proving impassable across half back. Brodie Higgis kicked a great soccer goal early in the second, but the Saints were able to stay in the contest via a great team goal that finished with Sam Boehm converting for their first which they quickly followed up with another to have the game well and truly alive. Lawrie rallied his troops though and along with Fair and Cross they took charge in the middle to create plenty of opportunities where Monfries finished off some good work as the Blues piled on 4 late unanswered goals to lead by 39 points at half time.
The continued this dominance in the third quarter with Joe Walker finding himself in unfamiliar territory to kick 2 great running goals form half back and Monfries continued to be a strong focal point up forward. The game was well and truly over by 3 quarter time and it was a similar story in the last as Tumby Bay kicked a further 5 goals and kept the Saints to just 2 points to run out convincing winners. Raheem Betts provided a rare highlight to take a genuine hanger in front of the Saints faithfull, but they were few and far between for the Saints in another tough day. Mitch Lawrie was excellent all day for the Blues and kicked 4 goals, Monfries strong up forward with 7, and Fair and Jagga Cross were both excellent in the midfield. For Eyre United Flynn Webb tried his heart out, Telfer was good again, and Gale, Ware, Forrest and Foster all made contributions.
