Elliston Districts vs United Yeelanna
Elliston Districts
Ins – Ross Bascomb, Toby Baker, Oska Richards
Outs – Zane Coleman, Joseph Kennedy, Jarrah Donavan
United Yeelanna
Ins – Jaxon Norton, Aaron Watson, Cody Duncan, Jay Duncan, Shaun Maxfield
Outs – Ricky Skinner, Beau Maddern, Beau Sampson, Ben Carr
Elliston Districts will play their last senior football game at home whereas the Eagles are gearing up for yet another deep finals campaign this weekend.
The Roosters were lucky to hold on last weekend against a fast-finishing Cougars side, whwilst the Eagles would have enjoyed a bye, resting up a few bodies after defeating Tumby Bay the week prior.
Bascomb will be a welcome addition back into the Roosters defence as they try and combat the many goalkickers that United Yeelanna have.
Cody Duncan returns for his third game for the season for the Eagles and could be the ace up their sleeve during finals.
Both sides are full of talent in the engine room with years of rep and zone footy from the likes of Kelsh, Rosalia and Williams for the Roosters and Murnane, Maxfield, Carr, Watson and Crettenden for the Eagles.
Expect a close first half with a spirited Roosters side looking to finish on a high but United Yeelanna look to have too much depth over the entirety of the ground as they gear up for yet another premiership tilt.
Tumby Bay vs Cummins Kapinnie
Tumby Bay
Ins – Maddox Hunt, Matthew Hartwig, Grant McLeod
Outs – Liam Carr, Alby McDonald, Isaac LeBrun
Cougars
Ins – Brodie Laube, Will Clayfield
Outs – Billy Mahoney, Mitch Blacker
Both sides come into this game fresh off some close losses. An undermanned Tumby Bay were extremely accurate up against Ramblers to goal down by 2 goals, whereas Cougars kicked 5 goals in the last quarter to nearly sneak over Elliston Districts.
The Blues regain 3 key players this weekend who will play a big part in their finals campaign. Hartwig’s ability to play as a key in defence or attack, straightens the whole side up whilst the X factor of McLeod and his ability to burst from stoppage had him in Mail Medal contention last year until his injury.
Whilst it has been a tough year for Cougars, they have continued to play youth each week, which will hold them in good stead in the years to come.
Cougars coach Thomas Phelps has thrown himself in every position this season, often taking the oppositions best player and sacrificing his own game to quell the bleeding at times.
The speed of Tumby Bay could cause headaches in this match for Cougars and they should win this comfortably as they warm up for a big final against Ramblers next weekend.
Cummins Ramblers vs Lock
Ramblers
Ins – Jake Horton, Phoenix Milburn, Henry Treloar
Outs – Ethan Langley, Wes Bilney, Kadyn Bryant
Lock
Ins – Luke Durdin, Jack Humpries, Sam Pearce, Travis Beard
Outs – Brody Burrows, Casey Beard, Macaulay Glover, Justin Beard
Both sides are coming off wins from last weekend. Ramblers defeated Tumby Bay in a hard-fought preview of the first semifinal whereas Lock had a huge 164pt over Eyre United led by an incredible 16 goals from coach Kory Beard.
Despite both sides coming into this game less than full strength, expect the intensity to be high as they look to roll into September on a positive note.
The midfield battle between Chandler, Bullard and Buchanan up against Morton, Kay and George will go a considerable way into deciding this match with all players having the ability to get forward and kick goals.
The ruck contest will be worth the price of entry alone with Treloar and Beard both named in their side’s best players every week for the last 5 games.
The Roos forward line is extremely potent, averaging 125pts scored per game. However, all eyes in this game will be on the Beard cousins in Travis and Kory as to who will end up winning the goalkicking, with Kory coming in with a 2 goal head start.
Expect a hard-hitting first half between these two sides, but Lock should have too much firepower and finish the season on top of the ladder.
